How we can help

We work in every area of heritage and conservation, from archaeology and listed buildings to conservation areas and non-designated heritage assets (see below).

We can assist with the following heritage matters:

  • Initial advice on risks and legal requirements for any works to your property
  • Apply for listed building consent, conservation area consent, or scheduled monument consent and resolve planning conditions for works to or within the curtilage/grounds of your property
  • Assess the significance of heritage assets and their settings and produce heritage statements and heritage impact statements and assessments following national guidance
  • Negotiating with local planning officers and other bodies
  • Producing conservation management plans and appraisals
  • Providing advice on appropriate methods of repair and maintenance and instruct specialists on your behalf
  • Providing advice on enabling development and conservation deficits and broader heritage scheme economics
  • Providing advice on archaeological matters
  • Advising on environmental impact assessment

Listed building Consent

You will need to apply for listed building consent if you want to demolish a listed building, or if you want to alter or extend it in a way that affects its character as a building of special architectural or historic interest.

You may also need this consent for works to separate buildings within the grounds of a listed building.

What are designated and non-designated heritage assets?

Designated heritage assets include scheduled monuments, listed buildings, world heritage sites, shipwrecks, historic parks and gardens, national parks and conservation areas.

Non-designated heritage assets are other buildings and sites that also have some archaeological, architectural, artistic or historic interest, either locally or nationally.
